when de Shan's half-finished, hand-painted 1983 300D Mercedes Benz died, this set of paintings came to fruition. through the darkness of her loss, de Shan created all of the imagery which centred on traffic signals and traffic signs (only showing the lights as red, indicating the inability to "go"), which branched out to the stencil art found on traffic signal boxes around oklahoma city as well as various signs and gateways, etc. these were done through manipulating polaroid photos and combining them with mixed media paintings underneath.
