a combination of an exhibition of deShan's art in a fashionable horse-racing area of brisbane, and her upbringing on a quarter horse ranch, inspired this work. it is also a study of the varied perceptions of relationships between men and women and the fantasy of escape from various duty-bound lives. it all began with a discussion of a story with a girlfriend who had a long-term affair with a married man, and he was labelled the “stud” and she the “whore”.
