hank was de Shan's beloved black labrador retreiver. at the age of 5, he was stolen and, through her sense of loss for him, she created this series of oil paintings, all of which were painted with her fingers and show hank as running away from home to experience the world. de Shan envisaged hank on a wild adventure around the globe and these paintings reflect the tales that he would have told.
